Provider of IP network test solutions, Ixia and provider of next-generation laser technology Opnext, will provide an error-free demonstration of 40 GbE transmission at the European Conference on Optical Communications (ECOC). The transmission of 40 GbE traffic will be conducted by utilizing the Ixia K2 higher speed Ethernet test solution and the Opnext 40GBASE-LR4 CFP transceiver module.
The Opnext TRC5B20 device is an optical transceiver that allows transmission of SONET and 40 Gbps Ethernet traffic across a single mode fiber. The module utilizes Opnext’s capability to provide high-performance technology in a small pluggable package and also reduces energy consumption.
The TRC5B20 module supports 44.6 Gbps, 43.0 Gbps, 41.25 Gbps and 39.8 Gbps data rates and is suitable for telecom and datacom applications. The performance of the 40GbE transceiver is featured in the IXIA K2 HSE test solution.
Opnext’s Director of Product Marketing, Josef Berger stated that the versatility of the TRC5B20 module is valued by customers because it could be utilized in both SONET/OTU3e and 40 G Ethernet applications in routers and switches. Berge added that Ixia’s K2 platform will enable the company to demonstrate the IP traffic transmission through its optical transceiver.
