4Connections, a New Jersey and New York metro lit and dark fiber provider, working with AboveNet, a leading provider of fiber optic connectivity solutions, announced today that it has successfully installed fiber optic infrastructure for an AboveNet enterprise client within one week's time.
"We're proud of the speed and precision of this deployment with 4Connections," stated Paul Dufek, Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives and Access Management for AboveNet. "By working together to complete this network installation in just one week's time, AboveNet is able to provide our enterprise customer with complete turn-up and service in quick fashion, with the trusted flexibility and security of a private network build."
"Working with AboveNet to install the fiber optic infrastructure in just a week's time is an accomplishment," stated Michael Sevret, Vice-President of Sales for 4Connections. "Moreover, the installation demonstrates how New Jersey dark fiber providers and metro service providers can work together to offer dedicated connectivity for enterprise networks. For example, with this latest deployment, AboveNet's customer can now control its network services and roll out competitive, next-generation services, while still considering necessary, data back-up solutions and required redundancy in case of an emergency."
AboveNet and 4Connections provide connectivity from the new SAVVIS data center, owned by Digital Realty Trust in Piscataway, to one of New Jersey's largest carrier hotels, 165 Halsey Street in Newark in order that their clients can be compliant with the securities laws and other regulations. This link in the dark fiber network offers the enterprise customer more choice for interconnections and back-up communications services. It also allows the firm access to Europe and across America, without necessarily connecting through major cities like New York, in case of an emergency.
"For reasons of security and compliance, today's financial firms need access to leading optic service providers," stated James R. Trout, Senior Vice President of Portfolio and Technical Operations at Digital Realty Trust. "The dark fiber link that 4Connections provided and the AboveNet fiber optic connectivity solution provisioned over their own facilities-based metro fiber infrastructure installed here at SAVVIS is a great example of how many of our data-center customers are building redundant dark fiber connections to carrier hotels as another level of critical back-up."
