AUO and TPV Technology Form Joint Venture for LCD Module Production

AU Optronics (AUO) and TPV Technology have announced to form a joint venture plant for LCD modules. AU Optronics manufactures TFT-LCD panels, and the Brazil-based TPV Technology produces ODM LCD televisions. The joint venture company will allow AUO to enter into the fast growing LCD module market with TPV. However, the investment plan needs to get approval from the regulatory authorities.

The collaboration is the first production plant for AUO in the U.S., to provide support and services for customers following the establishment of production sites in Europe. TPV will offer its South American business infrastructure and brand image to the joint venture company, while AUO will provide its technology expertise in TV panels. The new plant will be known as ‘Brivictory Industria de Eletronicos Ltda’.

AUO will continue to offer value added services, such as efforts for the development in the new markets. Previously both companies had partnered for a joint venture for TV-set ODM and TFT-LCD module production.
