Albemarle to Provide Metal Organics to HBLED Market in South Korea

Manufacturer of specialty chemicals, Albemarle announced that it will leverage its manufacturing expertise in metal organics to provide High Purity Metal Organics (HPMOs) to the HBLED (High Brightness LED) market in South Korea. The company has started its capital investment in Yeosu, South Korea.

The Yeosu site comprises R&D and pilot plant equipment, which will be customized to allow customer qualification efforts in the next year. The site will emulate the TMG (Trimethyl Gallium) and metallocene polyolefin catalyst capabilities of Albemarle, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The company will leverage its ActivCat technology for the manufacture of polyolefin.

Albemarle’s Vice President of Polyolefin and Chemical Catalysts division, Amy Motto stated that they are delighted about the opening of their new plant. Motto added that they will meet the demands of the Asian customers by the local supply in HBLED and mPO industry.
