Provider of networking solutions, ADTRAN has expanded its Fiber-to-the-Premises (FTTP) portfolio with the addition of advanced Active Ethernet solutions. The new solutions include an improved suite of Total Access 300 Series Optical Network Terminals (ONTs), and a Total Access 5000 Optical Line Terminal.
The Total Access 5000 Multi-Service Access and Aggregation Platform (MSAP) now offers the new Active Ethernet capability. Active Ethernet provides customers with the benefit of a point-to-point fiber infrastructure, delivering up to 1 Gbps bidirectional bandwidth for each subscriber.
The Active Ethernet-based solutions, in combination with the company’s GPON technology, enable more end-to-end solutions for mobile backhaul, business, and residential applications. The point-to-point technology enables service deployment over a pair of fibers or a single fiber, at 80, 40, 20, or 10 km distances. The Total Access 5000 can eliminate the bandwidth issues associated with the deployment of Active Ethernet, as it provides up to 40 Gbps capacity for a network interface.
The new Total Access 300 portfolio includes the Total Access 354E SFU (Single Family Unit) outdoor ONT, the Total Access 324E indoor ONT, and the Total Access 372E SBU (Small Business Unit) outdoor ONT. These Active Ethernet ONTs deliver advanced trouble-shooting and GR-303 capabilities, as well as MGCP and SIP interoperability.
