Provider of IP and optical networking systems, Xtera Communications, has launched a new, advanced optical networking platform for metro, regional and long haul DWDM applications.
The Nu-Wave Optima platform offers improved performance sand capacity and streamlines the network operation and infrastructure. The platform enables service providers to scale and customize the network architectures by utilizing a group of high-density modules. The optical networking platform delivers unmatched service and network versatility at reduced cost of ownership.
The optical networking platform allows users to future-proof their optical network infrastructure. Xtera has implemented the hybrid EDFA/Raman and 100G-ready All-Raman amplification on the platform. This implementation enables enterprises and service providers to increase the capacity of their current fiber plant without opting for complex infrastructure or expensive re-engineering upgrades.
The All-Raman amplification can expand the capacity of the bandwidth to up to 15 Terabits per second. In order to increase network availability and more flexibility, the optical networking platform incorporates multi-degree ROADMs that enable mesh, ring and linear topologies to be deployed.
The Nu-Wave Optima networking platform is monitored and managed via Nu-Wave Network Management System, which offers an end-to end transport solution. The platform, when combined with the Network Management System, allows enterprises and service providers to create advanced optical transport networks.
