Calix announced that it has delivered more than one million optical fiber access ports to its communications service provider customers in the Latin American, Caribbean, and North American regions.
The company provides fiber access ports by utilizing point-to-point Ethernet, Active Ethernet (AE), and GPON (gigabit passive optical network) technologies.
The shipped fiber access solutions were deployed by more than 450 communications service providers, who cater to more than 400,000 business and residential customers, and numerous communities. An AE/Point-to-Point GE necessitates a single optical line terminal port for every optical network terminals (ONT), while a GPON port supports 32 subscriber ONTs.
The Calix Unified Access portfolio has proved to be ideal in meeting the requirements of various deployment scenarios and technologies. The company will showcase the Calix Unified Access portfolio at the FTTH Conference and Expo in Las Vegas, from September 13 to 15, 2010.
