BT Achieves Milestone with Fibre Optic Broadband Programme in Scotland

BT announced that it has rolled out the fibre-optic broadband programme in Scotland.

Fibre Optic broadband

Edinburgh, Livingstone, Bothwell, Fife, and Glasgow can now link to the fibre optic cable broadband, and offer a maximum of 10Mb/s upload speed, and 40Mb/s download speed. In addition to this project, BT has also offered the fibre-optic broadband access to 76,000 properties in Essex.

Brendan Dick, BT Scotland’s Director, stated that currently over 100,000 businesses and homes in Scotland have access to the fibre-optic broadband service. He expressed his excitement about the wide spread adoption of the super-fast broadband service by a large number of properties. All sectors of Scotland have to coordinate together to find solutions to deploy super-fast broadband to areas with challenging economics, Dick noted.
