GVTC Installs Fiber Optic Cable to Provide Fiber-to-the-Home Services

Comprehensive communications provider, GVTC Communications, has removed copper wiring measuring more than 500 miles and replaced it with optical fiber cable.

GVTC’s fiber-optic cable replacement is a five-year project that was initiated to provide fiber-optic cable to clients who had signed for the Fiber-to-the-Business and Fiber-to-the-Home services. The company has completed 50% of the installation.

The Vice President of network services at GVTC, George O'Neal informed that GVTC will install another fiber-optic cable that will extend to 500 miles. This fiber cable will cater to nearly 9,000 households. The project is set to be completed by 2012. The Fiber-to-the-Home service has provided the fiber-optic cable to 8,858 clients. The service is proposed to be different from other competitors, O'Neal said.

O'Neal further added that approximately 83% of the company’s customers will have Fiber-to-the-Home service after the project is completed. The fiber-optic cable delivers unlimited bandwidth and enhances GVTC’s quality of video services.
