Researchers at the Polish company, Ammono, have discovered a new cost-efficient method to make high quality crystals of gallium nitride.
These gallium nitride crystals will revolutionize the production of high-technology products in the future.
Gallium nitride has the ability to emit full spectrum of colors, namely, blue, red, green, and violet. It is mainly utilized in bright LEDs. Game consoles and Blu-ray disc technologies use a gallium nitride violet laser diode.
The Founder and the President of Ammono, Robert Dwilinski stated that gallium nitride will be soon used to manufacture miniature laser TV projectors for watches, mobile phones, or laptops. He continued that laser projectors may replace energy consuming, large LCD televisions. The demand for laser televisions is expected to touch up to two billion units for one year. According to Dwilinski, white light emitting gallium nitride diodes would soon replace conventional energy saving bulbs.
