New Mexico's First State Park Retrofitted with Qnuru's Vector LED Light Bulbs

Qnuru™, the premier provider of energy efficient lighting solutions, today announced that it has upgraded New Mexico’s Hyde Memorial State Park area lighting with its Vector LED Light Bulbs.

The ranch-style, pole-mounted light fixtures surrounding the park’s visitor entrance were retrofitted with 21 watt Vector Zuni model LED light bulbs. By upgrading rather than replacing the existing light fixtures, the park was able to preserve the decorative luminaires, reduce its lighting energy and maintenance expenses, and conform to its stringent Dark-Sky lighting standards. Today, Qnuru also announced that its Vector LED Light Bulbs are being displayed at the National Association of State Park Director’s annual conference, hosted this week by David Simon, Director of New Mexico’s State Parks.

“Promoting energy conservation is a critical success factor in the economic and environmental stewardship of this country’s glorious network of state parks,” said Dave Simon, Director of New Mexico’s State Parks. “We are delighted to be working with Qnuru to bring modern lighting technology to our most historic state park and to be able to showcase this success story to the prestigious national audience of state park directors who are gathering in Santa Fe.”

Located on 350 acres in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Hyde Memorial Park is New Mexico’s first state park. The property was donated to the state in 1938 by the widow of Benjamin Hyde, a naturalist, who is credited with establishing some of the first excavations at Chaco Canyon. Hyde used the property as a retreat for Boy Scouts in the 1930s until his death. Vegetated with dense stands of evergreens, aspen and shrub, the park’s hiking and mountain biking trails provide visitors the opportunity to view deer, raccoon, fox, coyote, squirrels, porcupine, and numerous species of butterflies and birds. Campers and picnickers can visit the Hyde Park Visitor Center which occupies the historic ski tow cable buildings that date from when the area was Santa Fe’s first ski resort.

“State parks are a critical intersection point for people and nature; their environmental leadership is an important role model for their communities,” said Rhonda Dibachi, President and CEO of Qnuru. “But parks are also businesses that must tightly manage their operating expenses while catering to the needs of their customers. Our LED lights help parks slash their energy costs, provide visitors with high quality, Dark-Sky sensitive illumination and, importantly, preserve the rustic-style lighting fixtures found throughout many state parks.”
