Networking solution provider, Ciena has included the 10GbE and 1GbE Ethernet cards in its CN 4200 FlexSelect Advanced Services Platform. The company provides low-latency hardware, professional services, latency-optimized optical devices and comprehensive performance metrics to provide fast and dependable network.
Ciena has signed up a number of customers for its low-latency solutions, after updating the Quad 10-T 10GbE and the 2RS 1GbE cards on the CN 4200 platform. Customers from Frankfurt, Stockholm, London, Chicago and New York will use the company’s low-latency solution for their electronic trading strategies. At present, companies are focusing on the fiber transport networks existing between the trade engines such as New York and Chicago.
In order to enhance reliability and reduce latency across the fiber transport networks, Ciena’s low-latency solution provides a number of features such as ultra low-latency transport, latency-optimized line systems, proactive performance monitoring, technical support and professional services. The low-latency transport allows 1 GbE and 10 GbE transponders for the CN 4200 platform to interconnect the trading platforms throughout the optical networks. The latency-optimized line systems provide a number of choices for regenerators and optical amplifiers to decrease the latency across fiber spans. The proactive performance monitoring software tracks service performance metrics for every wavelength across all sites.
The low-latency solution, in addition to electronic trading, addresses customer applications in other markets such as content delivery networks and high-definition video broadcast to enable speedier connection between clients and servers.
Ciena’s clients also include NYSE Euronext, Korea Exchange, Hong Kong Stock Exchange and Australian Stock Exchange.
