SingTel has announced new fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) services in Singapore. The FTTH services will be available to the users whose offices and homes are equipped with optical cables linked to the next-gen broadband network of Singapore.

Still many homes are being wired with the fiber-optic cables. The basic FTTH service package from SingTel, for the home users, will provide speeds of 15Mbps for international link, 75Mbps for upload and 150Mbps for download. The company’s top-end FTTH service package offers speeds of 25Mbps for international link, 100Mbps for upload and up to 200Mbps for download.

This is the first instance a Singapore broadband service has included international bandwidth in the specifications. In the future, Singapore’s service providers will be able to provide broadband services as fast as offered in countries such as Hong Kong and South Korea.
