Developer of LED based lighting systems, Digital Lumens announced that Maines Paper & Food Service has installed the Intelligent Lighting System in the latter’s headquarters in New York.
The lighting system has been installed to enhance the lighting levels and decrease the consumption of energy. Maines is expected to save 1,240 metrics tons of CO2 and 1,726,108 kWh of energy every year.
Maines chose Digital Lumens’ Intelligent Lighting System as a retrofit for the highbay warehouse lightings. The company worked in collaboration with the Groom Energy Solutions and chose the lighting system. Groom Energy replaced the current 400 W sodium lighting fixtures in Maines, decreasing maintenance cost and consumption of energy. The NYSERDA (The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority) offered incentive for the project.
Maines’ VP of Operations, Pat DeOrdio stated that Digital Lumens Intelligent Lighting System helps in enhancing the overall safety by increasing the light levels. He added that the lighting system also decreases the consumption of energy considerably.
Groom Energy Solutions’ VP of Operations, Bob Kirby commented that the lighting system was installed in ambient and very cold sections of the Maines facility. He added that the lighting significantly decreased the operating hours and enhanced the light levels, helping Maines to reduce the cooling loads and decrease the greenhouse gas emissions.
