Ciena announced that Bouygues Telecom has deployed the CN 4200 FlexSelect Advanced Services Platform throughout France. The platform has been deployed to broaden Bouygues’ broadband DSL transport and aggregation network, and to enhance capacity for supporting the increasing mobile traffic.
A leading mobile operator in France, Bouygues Telecom offers DSL and fixed line services throughout France. It also provides a 3G mobile network, covering over 80% of the population. Bouygues Telecom required a reliable and cost-efficient solution to meet the increasing customer demand for broadband services, and chose CN 4200 as the optical transport infrastructure for its mobile and fixed networks.
The CN 4200 platform is part of the Packet Optical Transport portfolio of Ciena. The platform allows Bouygues Telecom to support new data, video and voice services cost-effectively, for both its consumers and businesses customers. The platform’s dynamic optical programmability supports the future needs of the operator by offering the potential to reconfigure the transport network conveniently.
Ciena’s Vice-President for the EMEA region, Francois Locoh-Donou stated that the CN 4200 platform provides enhanced reliability and efficiency for Bouygues Telecom’s mobile and fixed networks.
