Lighting Science’s Solar LED Lights to Illuminate Mexico’s New Superhighway

Manufacturer of advanced LED lighting products, Lighting Science Group, has announced that its PROLIFIC DC LED street lights will illuminate the new Viaducto Bicentenario superhighway in the Mexico City. The Viaducto Bicentenario project, which has been jointly announced by BHP Energy Mexico S. de R.L. de C.V and Lighting Science, is in the final stages of completion and will open shortly on 16 September 2010.

Prolific Series LSG RoadWay

The PROLIFIC DC LED lights eliminate the use of energy from the electrical grid installation, remove maintenance expenditures and provide efficient lighting to the roadways. Unlike the conventional HID street lights, the company’s PROLIFIC LED light series delivers even illumination and high light output with minimum energy consumption.

The PROLIFIC LED lights use low-voltage DC current that is generated by wind and solar energy sources, resulting in increased versatility for off-grid power systems. Lighting Science’s advanced PROLIFIC LED technology removes the need for re-ballasting and re-lamping of HID lights.

BHP Energy Mexico’s Chief Executive Officer, Alan Barson, stated that the new highway in Mexico is the first elevated superhighway to be lighted with the solar LED lights. He added that the company selected the PROLIFIC DC LED lights after comprehensive research and testing.
