Developers Diversified Realty has initiated a pilot program to replace parking area lighting at 14 shopping centers in Puerto Rico. The new sustainable lighting will decrease utility expenses for common area, by reducing consumption of energy. The company is collaborating with WLS Lighting Systems to employ Natural White technology, which consumes less energy and emit higher quality of light.
WLS Lighting Systems will set up the netLiNK Controls system that will allow Developers Diversified to control each parking lot lighting wirelessly, with the help of an astronomical time clock.
WLS’ Energy Services Group President, Kevin Fletcher stated that their energy efficient lighting products and the proactive efforts of Developers Diversified would decrease the common area utility costs, and create a positive impact on the environment. He added that by installing the netLiNK Controls system and energy-efficient lighting in the shopping centers would save more than 1,700 tons of CO2 emissions every year.
