Future Lighting Solutions and Creative Technology Co-Developed LED Downlights

Future Lighting Solutions announced that it has entered into a collaborative project with Creative Technology Hong Kong, to develop new solid-state downlights under the latter’s Mabushi brand. These luminaires have been designed with the optical, thermal, and electrical support from the engineering team of Future, and they use the LUXEON Rebel LEDs.

Future used its proprietary tools to optimize and speed up the development of the LED system, thus assisted Creative in the overall system design and driver selection. The tools used by Future for the project include its QLED, the LED Reliability Tool, Usable Light Tool, and SSL Designer.

The result of the collaborative project was the development of 23 downlight models featuring 25-times longer lifetime, compared to the incandescent bulbs. These downlights minimized CO2 emissions and power consumption by above 80%. The downlights are being distributed in 10 countries across Europe and Asia.

Creative Technology’s Managing Director, Kenneth Yang stated that the Mabushi brand is their first general solid-state lighting. So, they depended on Future to design the LED assembly. Future’s expertise and tools allowed them to accelerate their marketing time and to offer an efficient lighting product, Yang said.
