Manufacturer of innovative picosecond-pulsed lasers, Attodyne Lasers, has launched two new air-cooled DPSS (diode-pumped solid-sate) lasers, the APL-4000-1064 and the APL-500-1064. Both DPSS lasers can be pulsed from 0 to 500 kHz. The APL-500-1064 laser can create 5 ps pulses of 25 µJ at 10 kHz frequency, while the APL-4000-1064 can generate less than 10 ps of 150 µJ at 10 kHz frequency.
The fiber-based lasers integrate solid-state free space amplifiers with fiber laser technology. The lasers feature a laser cavity, which is not prone to misalignment and eliminates maintenance issues. Customized lasers are available at wavelengths ranging from 1047 nm to 6000 nm.
Attodyne has designed a new cold ablation technique, which does not produce any side effects to the existing tissue. The technique can be used in medical applications involving teeth and bones. Potential applications of the DPSS laser include cosmetic dermatology, maxillofacial and plastic surgery, robotic surgery, dentistry, arthroscopic surgery, urology, cardiology and corneal sculpting.
