Olympus’ VS110 Virtual Microscopy System Earns Top Honors at 2010 European Scanner Contest

Olympus, specialist in opto-digital solutions, has earned top honors for its innovative VS110 virtual microscopy system at the European Scanner Contest in Berlin.

The contest was held along with the 10th Pathology Federal Meeting and the 94th Annual Meeting of the German Society of Pathology. The VS110 contested among five scanner systems and received the awards in the quality category.

The Olympus VS110 can easily scan 1 to 100 slides, enabling users from anywhere across the globe to navigate the images of all the slides. Over 200 Olympus scanning devices have been deployed worldwide. The VS110 slide scanning system is the latest of the series and has been optimized for whole slide and digital imaging applications.

The scanning system provides greater flexibility, which enable multiple-magnification scanning options. The Olympus VS110 also provides an option for oil immersion scans. The scanning system has a Virtual-Z feature, which enables the capture and display of numerous Z focal planes. The system is user-friendly and functions with a three-click operation.
