The secure ID solutions provider, LaserCard, has received an additional supply order for optical security cards from Italy for the CIE (Carta d'Identità Elettronica) program. The cards have to be shipped by November 2010. Italian citizens use the counterfeit-resistant, highly secure cards for travel and identification purposes.
The security provided by the ID card enables law enforcement authorities to prevent misuse of key documents and avoid counterfeiting. The cards are also used by Italy’s two major government agencies, the National Police of Italy, and the Ministry of Justice, to offer secure admission into government units and guard their employees.
Various governments globally trust the LaserCard’s optical media cards to guard the identification of government employees, foreign residents, and their country’s citizens. The card is also used for providing official documentation such as the vehicle registration cards, and driver licenses. The company provides optical security cards for government ID programs such as the Hungarian Professional Driver License, the Costa Rica Foreign Resident Card, the Saudi Arabian and Angolan National ID Cards, and the U.S. Green Card.
