Freeport and CALIENT Provide Multi-Domain Video Teleconferencing Solution

Developer of adaptive photonic switching technology, CALIENT Technologies has collaborated with Freeport Technologies to provide video teleconference solutions, which can hold many government security domains, without violating network security.

The new teleconference solution integrates the Enterprise Video Network Switch (VNS) of Freeport with the FiberConnect 320X adaptive photonic switch of CALIENT. This combination enables one CODEC to be used for a maximum of five network security domains, without violating the security domain. The solution is suitable for government agency VTC (Video Teleconferencing) and such multi-domain applications.

The earlier VTC solutions needed fiber-optic network connections and duplicate VTC systems in every desktop or conference room for every supported domain. Freeport’s VNS enables users to change the CODEC’s security level in such a way that any residual data of the CODEC is flushed and moved back to the original state.

CALIENT’s FiberConnect 320X adaptive photonic switch functions in security domains, as it is an all-optical photonic switch that switches photons, without any common management or data plane. The combined system delivers video conferencing on a maximum of five network domains, using an Ethernet core switch, a dedicated port, a single CODEC, and one fiber-optic cable.

Freeport’s Chief Executive Officer, John McGreevy stated that the demand for video conferencing is increasing continuously. By working with CALIENT, the company is able to provide the best solutions that meet the requirements, he added.
