Pico Projector-Embedded Devices Shipment Likely to Reach 20 Million by 2014

In-Stat has released a new research report, ‘Pico Projectors: One Reason Bigger Isn't Better.’ The report provides forecasts for the global shipment and market share of pico projector module-integration into various hand-held and mobile devices, namely, digital camcorders, digital cameras, portable media players, mobile TV, notebooks, and handsets.

Mobile Pico Projector

In the report, the shipment growth of the pico projector-embedded CE products is forecasted to grow to 20 million by 2014, while the mobile handset market share will increase from 15% to above 90% by the year 2014. The plug-in accessory/stand-alone pico projectors lead the market, however, the embedded devices are becoming popular than the plug-in devices.

The research also discusses that the market share of the standalone projectors will show a decrease from 37% in 2010 share to below 4% in the next five years. The quantity of the personal consumer electronics devices that use pico projection will probably increase in the following five years, however, its market share will be impacted negatively by the mobile handset market’s size.
