The identity assurance software products provider, Daon announced that India has selected its software for the UID (Unique ID) project. The project, known as Aadhaar, is the largest identity program in the world, covering 1.2 billion residents of the country.
The UID project will help in increasing the revenue, reducing tax leakages, and enabling residents to access crucial programs. It will also reduce the transaction costs considerably because it transforms social welfare program delivery.
Daon offers a client biometric infrastructure and a centralized platform for various uses such as immigration control, airport e-gate systems, national ID, border management, trusted identity services, government benefits programs, and employee credentialing.
The experience in large-scale programs, industry recognized expertise, and the unique Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) software of Daon allow delivery of solutions, which decrease cost, schedule, and risk. For the UID program, the company is liable for the ABIS solution that includes face, iris, and finger modalities.
The Chief Executive Officer of Daon, Tom Grissen, stated that the UID project requires a unique requirement because of the multimodal feature of the program, swift deployment, and the population size of India. He added that the value of COTS products have been recognized by their partners in the beginning of the procurement process.
