New Sabertooth Fiber-Optic Miniextender from PESA

PESA is currently shipping the new Sabertooth fiber-optic mini-inline extender to transfer SD/HD/3G-SDI video across long distances by utilizing a single fiber-optic cable.

Sabertooth fiber-optic mini-inline extender

The Sabertooth is a small fiber-to-coax and coax-to-fiber digital video media converter, and offers advanced media conversion between LC connector-style multimode or single-mode fiber cable and BNC-equipped 75 W coax.

The fiber-optic miniextender has a smaller diameter than a BNC connector and provides a tight unit-to-unit pitch, thus making it suitable for sharing coax and fiber connections on a BNC router. The miniextenders utilize the fiber transports with SMPTE 424M/259M/292M protocols and support data rates ranging from 270 Mbps to 2.97Gbps.

The fiber module is rugged and cost-effective and every single module is manufactured from a metal die-cast housing. The Sabertooth is not affected by video pathological signals across the transport interconnect. The fiber interconnects support up to 10 km transport distances using a single-mode cable and up to 600 m using a multimode cable.
