Manufacturer of heat stabilizers and UV light absorbers, Songwon Industrial, has announced that it will install a third incinerator as well as photovoltaic (PV) solar panels at its Ulsan manufacturing facility. The incinerator will be utilized to burn volatile organic compounds and to produce steam for the plant.
Earlier, Songwon has been operating two incinerators that were utilized to remove chemical waste and residues, which normally occur during the manufacturing phase of chemical additives. This process produces steam, which is used by the facility as the main source of energy and thus helps in minimizing the carbon footprint.
The advanced incinerator incorporates a proprietary technology and is specifically developed to reduce explosion risks. The incinerator was jointly designed by eTEC and Songwon.
Songwon has already installed the first set of PV panels at the Ulsan center to reduce energy consumption.
Songwon’s Chief Executive Officer and Chairman, Jongho Park, stated that the new investments establish their commitment to exercise safe and environmentally-friendly practices, and the company is happy to show that the chemical industry can play a key role in conserving the environment through reduced energy consumption.
