U.S. Patent for IRIDEX’ Adjustable Laser Probe

Manufacturer of laser-based medical systems, IRIDEX, announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has granted a patent for its ‘Adjustable Laser Probe For Use In Vitreoretinal Surgery’. The patent is applicable to IRIDEX’s medical device portfolio, which is distributed as ‘Adjustable and Intuitive EndoProbe’ laser devices.

The laser probe enables users to adjust the optical fiber in various angles. This provides complete view of the peripheral retina and eliminates reinsertion and removal of the laser device from the eye. This technique helps in accelerating the treatment process.

IRIDEX’ Chief Executive Officer and President, Theodore A. Boutacoff, stated that the company continuously strives to provide innovative solutions to its ophthalmic consumers, and the patent grant will allow them to differentiate their vitreoretinal solutions from other competitors. He added that they will leverage this opportunity to expand their product portfolio in the future.
