GAO Fiber Optics has launched a new, advanced Ethernet media converter that can be used to join the fiber cables with the twisted cables without interrupting the network operations.
The 3302 converter is IEEE802.3 compliant and can change the data signals between 100Base-Fx and 10/100Base-Tx Ethernet. The converter can be used in a central wiring cabinet or as a slide-in unit in a converter rack or as a standalone module. The converted data signals can be transmitted over an extended distance.
The 3302 media converter is available for 100/140, 62.5/125 or 50/125 µm multi-mode fiber and 10/125, 9/125, 8.7/125 or 8.3/125 µm single mode fiber. The converter also supports LFP, half-duplex and full-duplex communications.
The converter contains a distinct switch chip design and a remote diagnostic capability, and its range of data transmission distance varies from 2-20 km at a maximum speed of 10 or 100 Mbps. The converter also has a 2k MAC address list and a 512kb SSRAM buffer in addition to auto-update function, address auto-learning function, broadcast filtering and store-and-forward mechanisms.
