Economic development organization, Battle Creek Unlimited (BCU), has published a white paper, ‘Battle Creek Bandwidth Bountiful for Businesses’. The white paper addresses the fiber optic loop’s benefits in the City of Battle Creek. The optic loop connects the Fort Custer Industrial Park, downtown area of the Cereal City, Battle Creek airport, and other top business regions.
The City of Battle Creek and BCU have decided to install the optic loop network to retain and attract advanced companies to the region. This strategic plan is also intended to accommodate the largest employers of the city. The city constructed an underground conduit system for carrying the fiber optic loops to connect the Fort Custer Industrial Park and downtown Battle Creek. The decision will make Battle Creek a well-connected city, and help expand businesses, as well as creating new business environment.
The agreement between CTS Telecom and BCU approved 30 fiber-optic strands for BCU’s usage. Economic developers have purchased a part of the bandwidth and six dedicated strands for nonprofit, governmental, and public education uses. The rest of the bandwidth has been allotted for the private sector.
The Chief Executive Officer and President of BCU, Karl Dehn, stated that they are lucky that the community realized the importance of a well connected community for new businesses.
