NTELOS to Acquire One Communications’ FiberNet Business

Wireline and wireless communication service provider, NTELOS Holdings, has signed a purchase agreement to acquire One Communications’ FiberNet business.

The fiber optic network, FiberNet, of about 3,500 route miles covers the entire region of West Virginia and the surrounding areas of Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Kentucky and Ohio.

The President and Executive Vice President of NTELOS, Frank L. Berry, stated that the FiberNet acquisition marks a significant step for the company as they leverage their position as the preferred provider of data equipment in the Mid-Atlantic region. The acquisition will allow them to provide high-bandwidth products and services to carriers, consumers and large enterprises, he said.

NTELOS’ CEO, James A. Hyde, said that the company is happy to include the FiberNet assets in its business portfolio and will enable it to provide quality products and services in the Mid-Atlantic region.

One Communications’ Chief Executive Officer, Howard Janzen, commented that the acquisition presents a significant opportunity to develop new possibilities for their employees, partners and customers.
