Integrated Device Technology has developed a new embedded DisplayPort TCON (timing controller) for LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) notebook panels.
The IDT eDP 3-D TCON supports 3D resolution in LCD notebooks and incorporates a LED backlight driver, which enhances the image quality in the LCD notebook.
The LED driver also enables the eDP 3-D TCON to cut down energy consumption, which helps in increasing battery life. The timing controller has minimum number of components and provides increased flexibility to the designers.
The eDP 3-D TCON supports four differential-pair lanes at link rates of 2.7 and 1.62 Gbps, and complies with the VESA DisplayPort 1.1a standard. The device also supports resolutions of 1920x1200, 1280x800, 1920x1080, 1680x1050, 1600x900, 1440x900, 1600x945 and 1366x768 for notebooks with TFT (thin film transistor) LCD panels.
IDT’s Video and Display Operation General Manager and Vice President, Ji Park, stated that the DisplayPort technology will allow video enthusiasts to enjoy unparalleled 3-D experience on their notebooks.
