Veeco Instruments, Manufacturer of data storage, solar and LED process equipment, announced that Arima Optoelectronics Corporation (AOC) has purchased numerous TurboDisc E475 As/P (Arsenic Phosphide) and TurboDisc K465i GaN (Gallium Nitride) MOCVD (Metal Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition) systems during the Q2 2010. AOC, headquartered in Taiwan, develops LED epitaxial chips and wafers.
The E475 MOCVD system is specifically designed for large-scale production of yellow, orange and red high-brightness light emitting diodes (HB-LEDs). The MOCVD system provides unmatched reliability and process control compared to other MOCVD technologies. The K465i MOCVD system has excellent wavelength uniformity and high run-to-run repeatability and provides quick process optimization on wafers measuring up to 8”.
Arima Optoelectronics’ President, Marco Kuo, said that the company chose the Veeco’s MOCVD systems as they offer high capital efficiency through superior productivity and reliability. He informed that the majority of the MOCVD systems will be deployed in Northern Chin, where the company has signed an agreement with the government to establish a new JV company to develop LEDs.
