KLASTECH (Karpushko Laser Technologies) announced that it will be unveiling the new 442nm DPSS laser at the Photonics West expo 2010. The CONCERTO laser has been developed as an alternative to the Helium Cadmium (He-Cd) lasers.
The new laser utilizes KLASTECH’s next generation technology that helps to considerably improve second harmonic conversion efficiency over the conventional DPSS laser architectures. This technology allowed the company to develop the new DPSS laser, where several other laser architectures have failed.
The laser measures significantly smaller than the conventional He-Cd lasers. The solid-state design of the laser helps to decrease mechanical and thermal issues, like that of a stable laser platform. In addition, users need not provide periodic re-melting because the laser’s power remains stable until its lifetime, say more than 10,000 h.
The CONCERTO laser reaches a power stability of less than 2%, and operates silently with noise less than 0.5% rms. With a line width below1MHz, the laser technology offers coherence length of more than 100m. The company is now taking orders for its 20mW laser versions.
