EXFO Launches New FTB-5240BP Field Optical Spectrum Analyzer

EXFO Electro-Optical Engineering has launched a new FTB-5240BP Field OSA (Optical Spectrum Analyzer) for network equipment manufacturers. The FTB-5240BP Field OSA has been developed for network upgrading, troubleshooting and commissioning applications.

The FTB-5240BP Field OSA enables the field crews to measure the OSNR (Optical Signal-to-Noise Ratio) between the signals, examine the spectral content, monitor component imperfections and track non-linear effects.

The FTB-5240BP OSA can also commission the UDWDM (ultra-dense wavelength-division multiplexing) networks with 12.5 and 25 GHz spacing for detailed troubleshooting and characterization. The OSA is accommodated in a FTB-500 Platform and supports in-band OSNR measurements in those systems where the noise level changes from channel to channel.

EXFO’s Product Management and Marketing Vice President, Étienne Gagnon, stated that network equipment manufacturers and carriers are searching for advanced test systems to enhance their testing efficiency. The OSA meets these objectives by providing a high optical resolution, Gagnon said.
