Sportworks has rolled out a new Mazak SpaceGear U44 3D laser cutting system for the Pacific Northwest manufacturing companies. Sportworks is one among the few companies in the Pacific Northwest region to have the 3D laser cutter for non-proprietary use.
The Mazak SpaceGear system can cut square, rectangular and round tubing from 0.5 to 6'' diameter as well as customized tubing of up to 12'' diameter. The U44 3D system is ideal for cutting, drilling and trimming formed sheet metal-parts.
Sportworks’ President and Founder, Michael Reeves, stated that the laser cutting tube and pipe combines six traditional fabrication steps into a single automated process. The laser cutting system can reduce both indirect and direct labor by 75% and can significantly increase the productivity levels, he said.
The Vice President of Sportworks, Derek Sanden, said that they are delighted to bring the advanced 3D laser cutting technology into the region. The technology will allow them to expand their production capabilities and provide an overall value to their partners and customers, he noted.
