GAO Fiber Optics Launches New Ethernet Media Converter Line

Fiber-optic test instruments provider, GAO Fiber Optics, has rolled out its new series of Ethernet media converters for converting data signals between 100 Base-Fx and 10/100 Base-Tx fast Ethernet networks.

The plug-and-play Ethernet devices can be used as slide-in, or standalone modules in a central wiring closet, or a converter rack. The data signals, converted by these converters, can be transmitted to a maximum distance of 20 km.

New 100M Media Converter

The IEEE802.3-compliant Ethernet media converters support half-duplex, as well as full-duplex communications. The media converters connect fiber cables easily to the twisted cable units.  The Ethernet modules feature a 2k MAC address list, and a 512kb SSRAM buffer.

The Ethernet media converters also feature a distinct switch chip design and an inbuilt remote diagnostic ability. The converters are equipped with easy-to-read LEDs that offer easy operational status monitoring. Other features of the media converting devices include address auto-learning, broadcast filtering, store-and-forward mechanisms, and auto-update.
