LED street lights, manufactured by Lighting Science, will illuminate Vista Verde Country Club streets in Tehuacan, Mexico. The PROFILIC series of LED lights have been installed in the country club. These lights will help in reducing the cost of maintenance and decrease the consumption of energy for the club. The installation was jointly announced by BHP Energy Mexico and Lighting Science Group.
The PROFILIC series of streetlights were tested under the LM-79 process to assure reliability and performance. The CALiPER program of the US Department of Energy has authorized the LM-79 process. The LED lighting technology also avoids expensive re-ballasting and re-lamping of HID streetlights.
The lights also use direct line wiring instead of capacitors or starters, resulting in less conventional maintenance issues. The PROFILIC series streetlights are 50% more efficient than the conventional HID streetlights. The streetlights also deliver consistent distribution of light.
Vista Verde Country Club’s Manager, Constantino Ramon, said the club required independent professionals to guide them because there was a lot of confusion in the LED marketplace. The club was satisfied with the PROLIFIC LED lighting, after it was demonstrated by the BHP Energy Mexico. The CEO of Lighting Science Group, Zach Gibler, said the PROFILIC series allows cities, communities to switch over to energy-efficient, cost-effective street lights that deliver high light quality than conventional HID lights.
