New Handheld Optical Light Source from GAO Instruments

GAO Instruments, manufacturer of advanced electronic measurement systems and telecommunication testers, has introduced an optical light source for fiber optic testing and CATV fiber optics and telecom maintenance.

GAO handheld optical light source

The hand-held optical light source delivers one to four output wavelengths to meet customized requirements. The light source includes 850/1300 nm and 1310/1550 wavelengths for multi-mode and single-mode fibers, respectively. The device also features a 650 nm red source.

The A0630009 optical light source provides a modulation output of CW, 2Hz at 650 nm wavelengths and modulation output of CW, 2 kHz, 1 kHz and 270 Hz at other wavelengths. The optical light source delivers an output power of -20dBm for LED and -7dBm for LD with a high stability of ±0.1dB/8h.

The device has an auto-off function that turns off the light source when there is no activity for more than 10 minutes. In addition, the light source has a backlit LCD screen that displays the test results clearly. The device is lightweight and compact, which makes it suitable for field-testing applications.
