Provider of optical access solutions, Sorrento Networks announced that ITS Telecommunication Systems (ITS) is utilizing Sorrento’s GiguMux 3200 and 1600 platforms in its FTH (Fiber-to-the-Home) network to enable high-speed broadband services in the rural region.
ITS is utilizing Rural Utilities Service’s (RUS) loan to develop the fiber optic network in the rural area. In order to receive the funding, borrowers should purchase products that meet RUS standards and requirements. Sorrento’s GiguMux platforms meet all the RUS requirements, which allow ITS to use the platforms to support its bandwidth needs.
ITS is increasing the flexibility of its optical infrastructure through Sorrento’s wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) platform. The platform will allow ITS to provide high-speed data solutions at a reduced capital outlay, and to also enable the transport of SAN, layer 2/3 Internet and SONET/SDH traffic in their native formats.
The Chief Executive Officer of ITS, Jeff Leslie, said that the FTTH project will enable the company to provide integrated data and voice services to the customers. He informed that the company has been involved in this project over the past four years.
