New Visible Optical Fiber Fault Locator from GAO Comm

GAO Comm, supplier of communication test equipment, has announced the launch of  new visible fault locator for optical networks’ maintenance and installation. The fault locator includes an automatic power-off function to conserve energy as well as a low voltage warning option.

The 811 fault locator can be utilized with an optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR) as it can rectify the OTDR’s dead zone limitation. The compact fault locator is ideal for multi-and-single-mode fibers. The 811, otherwise called as the visible red laser source, can detect the fiber faults in patch panels, couplers, fiber jumpers, connectors and enclosures.

The locator utilizes visible light to show the fiber fault location precisely from a misaligned mechanical splice or coupler. The fault locator supports 2 Hz and CW optical output modes and SC, ST and FC adapters.
