Syndiant Launches SYA1022 Display Controller ASIC for Pico Projectors

Syndiant has launched a new embeddable display controller called the SYA1022 for a wide range of pico projection systems. The display controller ASIC is developed by using Syndiant’s propriety VueG8 LCOS display panels.

The SYA1022 display controller is cost-effective and provides superior power efficiency and functionality in a compact form factor. The controller integrates the frame and control buffer in a compact 9x9 package. In addition, the SYA1022 controller also supports the entire range of Syndiant’s LCOS display panels, which range from 854x480 pixels Video Graphic Array (VGA) to SYL2061 1024x600 pixels Super Video Graphic Array (SVGA) panel. The SYA1022 can also be integrated in laptops and cellular phones.

The SYA1022 converts video signals into a specific format, which is used by Syndiant’s color LCOS display panel. The controller’s interface flexibility and superior programmability enables its integration in a wide range of pico projectors.

Syndiant’s CEO, Mark Harward, said that the display controller has been shipped to various companies. The controller reduces BOM expenditure and enhances functionality, and combining the frame buffer DRAM with the display controller provides significant cost savings and footprint since it reduces energy consumption and removes the need for external DRAM, he informed.
