Suniva Adds New Solar Cell Manufacturing Facility

Suniva announced that it has added a third solar cell manufacturing facility to its Atlanta plant. With this addition, the production capacity of the company has now increased to 170 MW from the existing 96 MW. The new facility is now under full production and will facilitate the company to meet the growing demands for low-cost and high-efficiency solar modules.

The first production line developed by Suniva had a capacity of 32 MW, which was completed in November 2008. Later, the company completed its second manufacturing line, which had a production capacity of  64 MW. The company has also increased its workforce, promoting more jobs in the U.S.

The CEO of Suniva, John Baumstark, said that there is a continuous demand for the company’s low-cost solar cells, and the new manufacturing line will enable them to lead the clean-energy economy in the U.S.

Suniva manufactures high-power solar modules and silicon solar cells.
