Zayo Forms New Business Division, Zayo Fiber Solutions

Zayo Group announced that it has established a new business division called the Zayo Fiber Solutions (ZFS). The new unit will design, develop and manage the dark fiber services, also known as unlit fiber-optic networks, for government, enterprise and wholesale customers.

Earlier, Zayo has signed a deal on June 30, 2010 to acquire a fiber-optic company called American Fiber Systems Holding Corporation (AFS). Dark fiber services constitute a major part of AFS’s revenue. Zayo also acquired AGL Networks on July 1, 2010.

ZFS will provide fiber optic network services across all Zayo’s fiber markets and will also provide fiber network services in the AFS and AGL markets. In addition, ZFS will also offer customized fiber network solutions to the markets that are not served by Zayo.

The President of Zayo Group, Dan Caruso, said that the main objective of the company is to provide the necessary infrastructure for service providers and carriers as they deal with continuous expansion of the internet.
