GAO Fiber Optics Launches Lightweight Optical Multi-Meter

GAO Fiber Optics, supplier of fiber optical test and measurement devices, has launched a new, user-friendly optical multi-meter to monitor the performance of optical components and to measure the optical loss.

2498A Optical Multi-Meter

The new optical meter is developed for single mode fiber measurement. The multi-meter can be used as a light source, as a loss measurement system or as an optical power meter. The lightweight, compact multi-meter is suitable for field testing application.

The 2498A multi-meter provides light signals in CW mode with 0.1dBm to 1dB measurement resolution in W display mode. The 2498A covers the wavelengths of 1.30, 1.55, 1.31and 0.85 µm for optical loss measurement within the range of 20dBm to -50dBm.

The handheld multi-meter offers a wavelength calibration function at 4 wavelengths such as 1550, 1300, 850 and 1310 nm. Users can specify the measurement range of the multi-meter and can set it to be off and on. The optical power sensor’s deviation is automatically compensated. The meter includes an AC-DC adaptor, a backlit LCD screen, dry cells and a rechargeable Ni-Cd battery as power sources.
