Orange to Build New Fiber Optic Network in France

France Telecom-Orange has announced a new five-year plan called the “conquests 2015” to set up a new fiber optic infrastructure in France. The five-year plan will require a funding of two million euros to build the fiber optic network by 2015.

The fiber optic network will cover all the regions of the mainland France by 2012 and all the departments by 2015. The fiber optic network will also be extended to three overseas territories. Under the project, 40% of the French households will be covered by the network. Orange will also invest in the deployment of green network called the Oryx program in Africa. Investment will also be made by the company to monetize the mobile data traffic.

France Telecom-Orange’s Chief Executive Officer, Stephane Richard informed that the company is facing a number of obstacles such as the French social crisis, a fast-changing ecosystem and a competitive environment. He further stated that the company will overcome these challenges through strategic planning and their main objective is to produce a surplus cash flow of eight million euros for the present and upcoming years.
