PI Ironless Linear Motors- Working Principle

This video shows the various components of PI ironless linear motors as well as their working principle. Ironless linear motors are a type of brushless direct drive linear motors. They provide very smooth motion operation, and hence preferred for precision motion control applications.

The magnetic linear motors correspond to a series of many voice coil actuators. It is possible to move the coils or the magnetic assembly. They operate based on position and force control. Linear motors are employed for very high and very low feed velocities. PI produces linear motors for use in its own high-precision positioning systems.
