Cree Inc to Fix LED Lighting All Through the Hyatt Regency to Save Energy

In an effort to become a greener, more energy-efficient hotel, the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress Resort has installed LED (light-emitting diode) lighting by Cree, Inc. (Nasdaq: CREE). One of Orlando’s largest resorts, with close proximity to Walt Disney World, the hotel recently completed a multi-million dollar renovation that included replacing traditional, antiquated lighting fixtures in its 54 hallways, as well as its freshly refurbished 10,000-square-foot lobby.

Samsung to Launch High-Definition Televisions with Embedded Skype Software

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd and Skype today announced that the new Samsung LED 7000 and 8000 series models of 2010 high-definition televisions will feature embedded Skype™ software* allowing Skype users to make video and voice calls through the TVs. Samsung, the global market leader in televisions, will begin shipping TVs with Skype software in the Korean market today, and worldwide in the first half of 2010.

Ultratech to Supply LED Lithography System to Taiwan-Based Company

Ultratech, Inc. (Nasdaq: UTEK), a leading supplier of lithography and laser-processing systems used to manufacture semiconductor devices, today announced that it has received an order from Taiwan's largest light-emitting diode (LED) chip manufacturer for an LED lithography system, which is specifically designed and optimized for high-brightness LED (HBLED) manufacturing. In addition, this customer has provided a conditional commitment to purchase several additional Sapphire 100 systems to meet its ramp requirements over the next few quarters. The Sapphire 100 tool is scheduled to be available for volume shipments in the second half of 2010.
