The X series is a highly configurable and sensitive line of compact Raman spectrometers and systems designed to assist OEMs and researchers in developing new Raman applications. This extensive product family includes modular spectrometers, integrated lasers, full Raman spectroscopy systems, and OEM modules.
There are many configuration options to suit each user's specific requirements. Wasatch Photonics assists users in achieving the ideal signal-to-resolution ratio for advanced Raman measurements.
Superior Performance in a Compact Footprint
By starting with the company's signature high-efficiency VPH gratings and high throughput optical bench and using the input of the world's best Raman researchers and product developers—the customers—Wasatch Photonics created the X series, the most potent and complete compact Raman product line ever.
The X series is ideal if the user is searching for a good “next step” in application development after working with a costly, bulky benchtop Raman spectroscopy system or a Raman microscope (or if a general-purpose spectrometer cannot provide the required sensitivity). Wasatch Photonics provides outstanding signal quality and repeatability to ensure optimal user outcomes.
Explore the Benefits
- Ease of use
- Data access
- Sensitivity
- Reliability
- Configurability
Configurable Design, Comprehensive Options
With a highly configurable optomechanical design that scales from volumes of 1 to >1000, the X series is quick and simple to adapt to various applications and use case needs. Compared to traditional benchtop Raman, users can achieve maximum performance at significantly lower weight and cost by customizing each spectrometer or Raman system to meet their needs.
Since these units have a resolution of less than 10 cm–1, they can be used for most identification, diagnostic, and process applications. The onboard calibration data for wavelength and spectral response in each unit guarantees high spectral accuracy and reproducibility from one unit to another. Wasatch Photonics provides several measurement configurations and guidance on designing a Raman spectroscopy system.

Full Spectrometer Customization
The sturdy, modular optomechanical design offers choices to balance signal and noise with resolution, power consumption, and system integration level, allowing it to adjust to the specific requirements of each application. Users can either design their own or rely on Wasatch Photonics’ experience and testing to show them the optimal configuration for their requirements. Some configuration options are:
- Excitation wavelength: 532 nm, 638 nm, 785 nm, 830 nm, or 1064 nm
- Input aperture: f/1.3 for greater signal collection or f/1.8 for higher resolution
- System configuration: spectrometer only (IC), with integrated laser (ILC), or with integrated laser and sampling optics/probe (ILP)
- Slit size: 25 µm is standard, 15 µm & 50 µm custom
- Sample coupling: external fiber optic Raman probe vs integrated probe
- Detector cooling level: temperature-regulated detector (10 °C) or TEC-cooled detector (–15 °C)
- Usage: Laboratory unit or an equivalent OEM module for integration into another instrument

OEM-Ready to Accelerate Product Development
Wasatch Photonics developed the X series for emerging OEMs - researchers and instrument manufacturers working on innovative Raman applications that need a compact module and/or portable Raman spectroscopy system. That is why Wasatch employs the same sensitive, robust, and highly reproducible optomechanical design for both laboratory and OEM versions of the X series spectrometers and systems.
Users can finish proof of concept and method development with a laboratory X series system before switching straight to the corresponding OEM module for volume production. This eliminates the need to update chemometric models or matching libraries or alter performance. From day one, users receive research-grade results, the stability and reproducibility of an OEM instrument, and reliable information that they can utilize to create models for field use.
Users can reduce risk and expedite the instrument design and product development process with this special “OEM Inside” method. While Wasatch offers top-notch Raman hardware, users concentrate on creating the turnkey solution. Additional “OEM Inside” advantages:
- Perfect for point-of-use tools in the industry, the clinic, and the field
- Raman spectroscopy systems and scalable, configurable modules at volumes ranging from 1 to >1000
- Move effortlessly and with confidence ffrom research to product development
- Programmer-friendly, open-source software and SDKs in multiple languages, GitHub access
- OEM collaboration and consultation, from product design to mass production
- Faster time to market with fewer surprises
