Low-Cost Dose Sensors to be Developed by SMI For Use in Cancer Therapy

Structured Material Industries, Inc., (SMI) will develop compact low-cost dose sensors for use in ion beam and proton beam cancer therapy. High energy beams of ions and protons have been investigated for cancer treatment over the past four decades. Proton beam cancer therapy is fast becoming a mainstream technology in the US, offering the potential for successful cancer treatment, with minimal side effects and minimum damage to adjacent healthy tissue.

Exar Addressed Architectural and Lighting Requirements with New LED Driver

Exar Corporation entered the industrial and architectural lighting market today with the release of a high-voltage step-down DC/DC controller, the SP7601. This LED driver delivers an input voltage range up to 30V in an industry-first, small 6-pin TSOT (2.9x2.8mm) package. This highly-integrated device is capable of supporting 24 Voltage Direct Current (VDC) and 12VDC rails most commonly found in architectural and general LED lighting systems.
