American Medical Systems (AMS), a provider of pelvic health therapies and devices, launched its latest GreenLight XPS (Xcelerated Performance System) developed for treating enlarged prostrate or benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) using laser.
The GreenLight XPS is based on AMS’ proprietary GreenLight PV and HPS laser systems. The laser therapy system uses an automatic safety feature called FiberLife that reduces fiber-associated failures by 90 percent. The XPS system provides high treatment efficiency by extending fiber longevity and improving coagulation capabilities.
The GreenLight delivers results comparable to TURP, with fewer complications, lower morbidity, shorter hospital stays and lower overall cost. Joe Martin, general manager and senior vice president at AMS, said that the system provides a good alternative to TURP therapies, furthering the company’s commitment to create a standard for prostate enlargement treatment.
Ricardo Gonzalez of Houston Metro Urology who took part in the GreenLight XPS system’s clinical evaluation is pleased with the system’s performance. He commented that the treatment of larger glands is now possible with one fiber, thanks to the FiberLife feature that improves fiber reliability and procedural efficiency.
